Elul-The season of mercy, forgiveness & answered prayers
Elul, the 6 th month on the Hebrew calendar, is also a season when God increases His mercies and forgiveness towards the earthly atmosphere. According to the rabbinic teachings it is also called the time when the King (God) is in the field waiting to receive every person from every class, tribe, nation, religion and background, so that He may fulfill their requirements.
In this season sins are forgiven, new beginnings are granted and favor is bestowed upon those that seek the face of God and turn away from the wicked ways of the world, but also this is the same season when God requires the act of mercy, forgiveness, good deeds, and love from us to our neighbors, families, friends and even our enemies.
This is a season of speaking positive words towards others and a time of using your tongue to bless instead of cursing. In this season we humble ourselves in intercession (standing in the gap in prayer for others), acknowledging this truth, that all human beings are biologically and spiritually connected to each other, because we all share the DNA of Adam, the chromosome (blood type) of Eve, Genesis 3:20 says; and Adam called his wife's name Eve, because she was the Mother of ALL living.
When one person transgresses against God even the evil effect of his act will affect the entire community or nation in which that person lives, but when the leaders (presidents, kings, politicians, teachers and parents) do what pleases God, even the peace, joy, favor, prosperity and love that springs from their act also affects and reaches to those people that don't even deserve it.
In simple terms I mean; if one person pleases God, then all those in his environment partakes of the blessing, but when one person transgresses against God's laws then even the innocent ones get to suffer for the out comes of the one that sinned.
In the month of Elul we exchange our own strength for God's mercies and forgiveness, and humble ourselves in prayer and do good deeds, for the sake of reminding God about His own creation, so that He may bless the entire world for the sake of His Holy name.
This is a season when prayers are answered and when your promises from God will be fulfilled for those who are acknowledging God's purpose for their lives in this season.
