Mormon also called the later day saints movement

The Mormon movement was founded by Prophet Joseph Smith Jr in December 23, 1805 in New York.

Joseph Smith claims to have had a vision from the Father God and Jesus Christ Himself, instructing him to begin a new movement of the later day saints called (Mormonism) that was to deliver God's people (Christ's church) that were lost and enslaved by the Great Apostasy that had gone away from God, (the Great Apostasy being the movement that begun the catholic church, the Eastern Orthodox church and the Protestantism movement),

and because of his revelation Joseph smith was completely rejected by the other Christians leaders (Catholic church, and the other bigger groups of that time) and he was considered to be a false prophet, but his book called; Book of Mormon, become so famous among his followers,

Today the Mormon movement has around 13 to 14 million members, the largest Mormon church of Christ as a whole has almost 13 million members, the second Largest formally known as the recognized church of Jesus Christ of the later day saints has about 250,000 members.
