Apostle: can you please explain to me what worship is?
ANSWER:
The word worship means to be intimate and spiritually related to the emotions or feelings of the one you are worshipping. Because the one you are worshiping is the real definition of what worship is.
True worship or a true worshipper is a person that is able to spiritually discern and know (understand) the feelings or emotions of the one that he or she is worshipping, and at the same time this person is able to take those feelings in within his own character, and he or she by decision and self commitment (covenant) chooses to fulfill the requirements of those feelings.
Today there is a lot of people in churches who insists on doing their own will (some are good singers, some are good prayer warriors, some are good in praying in tongues, some are good in intercession, some are good in preaching, some are good in prophesying etc…) and all these are just spiritual gifts, because you can be good at singing in the church, or casting out demons out of others, and yet; that does not mean that you are a worshipper.
The scripture says in Matthew 7:22-23; many will say to me on that day, Lord, Lord have we not prophesied in your name, cast out demons in your name and done many wonders in your name? And then I will declare unto them; I never knew you depart from Me you who practice lawlessness.
As you can see in that scripture above that these people were used by God, because God is in the business of saving souls, and He will use anybody to reach others in need, but they themselves (the ones that were being used) never had a spiritual relationship with God , in simple words this means that; they never knew Him.
The word knew derives from the word know, which means to become one with or to be intimately connected to someone's feelings.
When God commands you to bring your tithe in His storehouse, and instead of doing it by obedience, you then choose to do something else, like; singing or dancing for the Lord.
I tell you my friend, that how ever good you will sing or dance, God is still not going to be pleased with your singing until you first fulfill His commandment of bringing your tithe.
Our spiritual gifts are not greater than what God commands us to do, because what God commands us to do will demand for the obedience, and sacrificial life style of our spiritual gifts, and when we on earth fulfill what God has commanded us, our obedience connects our character to His emotions and feelings.
God's commandments is His emotions and feelings, and our obedience to His commandments is the connection of our character to the way He feels, and to the way He wants us to act at a given season, or in a given situation.
1 John 5:2-3 says: by this we know that we love the children of God, when we love God and keep His commandments, for this is the love of God, that we keep His commandments and His commandments are not burdensome.
So if you ask me once again; what is worship? And I will say unto you that worship is to be in a position where you are spiritually mature to accept, and obediently do what God requires from you at a given time, season, situation and circumstance in your life, and because of your obedience, then your gifts or talents will also be accepted before God.
