My children don't listen to my instructions and they always get in trouble, can you please help me?
I am a single mother with three children, they are 7, 10 and 16 years old and my problem is that they don't listen to my instructions, and they are always getting in trouble for their stubbornness, can you please give me advice on what to do with them?
ANSWER:
The scripture says in Judges 13:12-13; the woman is the mirror that reflects God's image, teachings and lifestyle into the lives of the children.
Most of the time when our children rebel against our instructions that we give them as parents, it also could be the reflection of our attitude towards God's word. Simply meaning that; the same areas where you are not fully obeying God, those are the same side effects that will take root in the character of your children.
Children are like receptacle vessels, they will only receive, obey and do what you have already done or what you are willing to do towards God's will for you life.
So, in such situations, you must be ready to receive instructions form God and also repent where it is needed, saying to God;
Abba Father, forgive me for any rebellion done unknowingly or knowingly towards you and those you have been sending into my life to give me godly advice and instructions.
And another thing that causes these reactions of stubbornness and rebellion in children, to their parents, especially single mothers, is that, the parents sometimes are so overprotective (so controlling, to the level that, the control turns into witchcraft control).
You also need to totally surrender your children to God (emotionally and physically) where you completely permit God to look after them, to watch over them and to protect them when they are not in your presence.
Sometimes parents have a hard time to exercise their faith towards God, because they spend most of their time worried and concerned about their children, than trusting God and believing that He can protect them.
Remember that He is the real parent and you are just the caretaker.
