I am in my 2nd day of my fasting, where I am only drinking water, and I am supposed to be fasting for 6 days, but it feels like I cannot go on just drinking water with out eating any thing, will my eating affect my spiritual commitment if I take something to eat?

ANSWER:

Like I always say; when you fast you don't fast for the sake of punishing your body, but you fast so that you may transform your body into a place of accepting the new life that God has planed for you to enjoy in your body.

When God brought the children of Israel out or Egypt , He then led them into the wilderness by Moses, before God took them into the promise land. The word wilderness means; a wild place where you can not find food, meat, etc that sustains the body, and they were in this wilderness for 40 years,

Do you know that the wilderness also represented a way of fasting that God was using to transform their evil habits (the bad behaviors of eating, speaking, and acting) that the Israelites had adopted from Egypt, and as they were in this wilderness God also gave them a type of food called manna, which sustained their bodies, He did not starve them to death, but He gave them new habits that were healthy to their body system, He gave them manna to eat, and also gave them ways (His commandments) that will transform their bad habits into godly ones

What you need to do is not to starve yourself to death, but you need to find something healthy to eat, so as you are fasting you will also be able to sustain your physical body through what you are eating; for example; if you want to fast for 10 hours every day before you break your fast, when you decide to break your fast, then you can eat some thing light like bread, fruit, or yogurt that will give your body strength and energy, and then you can fast again until you complete the commitment of your fast.

But as you are fasting you must stay a way from pork meat (pig meat), meat, bacon, sausages, crabs, lobster and shrimps, because those kinds of foods will increase energies in your body that will empower your bad habits, and at the end you will end up doing things that will go against your commitment of fasting.
